2024 | 30th company anniversary Celebration to mark 30 years of Toms Gerber Tom Gerber joins Hermine Gerber as Managing Director of the family business, while founder Toms Gerber, who gave his name to the company retires from the strategic and operational side of the business. |
2023 | Purchase of a drilling and milling machine with dowel insertion function |
2022 | Digitalisation of business processes Introduction of 3D CAD/CAM software that enables external data transfer and introduction of an ERP system for digital order processing |
2021 | The 5th generation joins the business Hermine Gerber returns to the family business with a degree in interior construction, an apprenticeship in carpentry and rucksackful of experience from a wide variety of wood processing companies. |

1998 | Change of name to Toms Gerber GmbH The family business changes its name to Toms Gerber GmbH in 1998. Sales operations go nationwide. The company employs 15 people, who provide services to trade, industry and processors (craftspeople/contractors and other medium-sized companies). |
1997 | A new direction The company focuses solely on the supply of postformed and composite components. |
1994 | The company becomes a wood processing business The Steinert family’s grandson, master carpenter Toms Gerber, continues the long family tradition in 1994 – now with wood processing. The core of the business is the provision of joinery services, while at the same time the foundations are laid for the production of postformed and composite components. For the time being, however, work concentrates on the production of single items. The sales focus is exclusively regional. |
1992 | The company is regained After German reunification in 1989, the dilapidated property is transferred back, with a great deal of effort, to the Steinert family. At this point, production is no longer underway. |
1972 | Forced nationalisation The family – the 3rd generation to run the company – loses ownership during the wave of forced nationalisations in East Germany. |
1885 | Foundation The company known today as Toms Gerber GmbH is founded in 1885 as textile-processing company F. Hermann Steinert KG. |
